Favorite Usman Dominates Burns in UFC 258 main event

UFC 258 was a great night of fights filled with finishes and action. Topping the card, UFC Betting favorite Kamaru Usman (-280) retained his UFC Welterweight title with an impressive performance. All five betting favorites in the main card have won their fights, Altough, there was a massive betting upset in the preliminary portion of UFC 258..

Unlike early fight predictions, the fight played out mostly in striking range. Gilbert Burns (+240) started strong, seemingly hurting the champion. However, Usman kept his composure while Burns seemingly burnt himself out in the very first round.

The most important thing about Kamaru Usman’s performance was his powerful, accurate jab. Surprisingly for all and especially Burns. Usman used his powerful jab both in Orthodox and Southpaw stances to great effect equally.

Usman dropped his former teammate several times with the jab, the last one leading to an onslaught of ground and pound for the TKO.

With the win Usman breaks GSP’s record of the most consecutive wins in the UFC Welterweight History. With 14 straight wins and showing improvements with every outing, it seems Usman will be the UFC Welterweight betting favorite for years to come.

Alexa Grasso survives scare, defeats prospect Maycee Barber by unanimous decision

Betting favorite Alexa Grasso (-140) put on a total MMA performance winning a hard fought decision over a game Maycee Barber. On the back of her powerful boxing, surprising clinch fighting and grappling, Grasso was able to win the fight on all three judges scorecards.

However, Barber wasn’t going down without a fight and made a valiant yet ultimately unsuccessful attempt, pressing the action in the final five minutes. If she wins her next fight, Grasso should be looked at as a title contender in the UFC Flyweight division.
